Recommended Mix Design: For each 7.5kg kit of RESCO - Ultimate UVR Resin MT, it is recommended to mix with:

75 kgs of 2-5mm dried aggregate
25 kgs of 1-3mm dried aggregate
6.25 kgs of binding quartz, Totalling 106.25 kgs, with the resin constituting 7.06% of the mix. This balanced composition ensures an optimal texture and strength for your surfaces.

Application Guidelines for Resin Bound Surface Installation

Pre-Installation Checks:

Ensure a successful resin bound surface installation with these preparatory steps:

Weather Conditions: Postpone installation if there is a forecast of rain during or within 4 hours post-application.
Humidity: Utilize an outdoor hygrometer to confirm humidity levels are below 80%; exceeding this may require rescheduling.
Surface Condition: The surface must be properly prepared—clean, primed if required, and fully dried.
Material Inspection: Double-check that all necessary materials are present and correct for quantity, size, batch, and color.
Tool Inspection: Confirm all tools and equipment are clean and in good working order.

Sub-Base and Base Preparation:

Sub-Base Requirements: A robust sub-base is essential, with a minimum of 150mm depth of compacted Type 3 granular sub-base to SHW clause 805, or suitable crushed aggregate. Ensure a finer crushed concrete aggregate is applied as a blinding layer.
Concrete Bases: Maintain concrete bay proportions close to 1:1 to prevent cracking, reinforcing open bay joints with concrete repair mortar and steel mesh. The concrete should meet a minimum design strength of C35 and compressive strength of 25N/mm² as per BS 8500-2:2015.
Asphalt Bases: Use asphalt with a bitumen binder having a pen value of no more than 100/150. For machine-laid applications, a harder grade of bitumen, such as 70/100 pen, is preferred. Ensure thorough compaction to prevent deformation and cracks, with full edge restraint for stability.

Drainage Considerations:

Concrete: Ensure proper falls are in place leading to adequate drainage systems, as the Resco system allows water to flow through and over the concrete base.
Asphalt: The permeable nature of the Resco Resin Bound System means an integral drainage system isn't necessary when applied over an open grade binder course asphalt.

Mixing Method:

Careful mixing is vital to the installation process:

Ensure the application surface is devoid of any moisture or debris.
Thoroughly mix the RESCO - Ultimate Resin Bound UVR parts A and B, keeping the mixing speed low to prevent excess heat.
Concurrently, blend the provided aggregates in a Forced Action Mixer briefly to avoid creating dust.
Promptly combine the mixed resin with the aggregates and begin timing the process.
Mix until all the aggregate is consistently coated, taking care not to overmix and cause shading differences or reduce working time.

Application Procedure:

Spread the mixed material in manageable amounts, using a float to smooth it evenly.
Frequently clean your trowel with white spirits to maintain a sleek finish and keep aggregates in place.
Trowel the surface thoroughly until the mix is no longer fluid and achieves solidity, immediately rectifying any uneven areas.
For enhanced slip resistance, you may sprinkle crushed glass over the surface at a measured rate.
Allow the installation to cure per the product's specified durations before opening to pedestrian or vehicle traffic.

Fantastic product and service

This was my first time at doing a resin driveway, and I'm glad I used Resco. The moisture tolerant resin was really good as I used it on quite a humid day, laid perfectly and has transformed my drive. I spoke to the guys at Resco a couple of times about delivery and were always really helpful. Only slight negative was the delivery company who left the pallet half on the road so I had move it all by hand, the second pallet got stuck on the rear tail lift so had to unload all of that pallet by hand! Over 2 tons moved of the lorry but that's not Resco's fault. Overall 10 out of 10, I would totally recommend Resco, great value and service.
